JFK-LHR Virgin Atlantic - Premium
My seat was a window seat, and it consisted of a reclining seat, with a TV built into the seat in front of me. there was a pullout tray-table from the armrest for meals. I was welcomed onboard by cheery flight attendants bringing orange juice and champagne through the cabin, I opted for the orange juice, it wasn't the freshest orange juice I've ever had, but it still tasted nice. Unlike the way to JFK, I did get an amenity kit which contained a blind fold, ear plugs, a bamboo toothbrush, a pen, and some toothpaste. I also was provided with some branded headphones to watch movies on the IFE. I connected to the onboard WiFi which was cheaper than the way out, and this time, it actually worked! About an hour into the flight, the meal service began, there was an option of Chicken tikka masala with pea and cumin pilau, Barbecue pulled pork, or rigatoni pasta with a tomato basil cream. I opted for the pasta, which was decent. It was not tomato cream sauce, but a cream sauce with a few sun dried tomatoes and basil leaves on the top. It was quite nice tasting don't get me wrong, but if I had known what it really was I would've chosen the BBQ pulled pork, which I was told was amazing. It was served with a caprese salad and a bread roll and butter. The salad consisted of mozzarella, nut free pesto, and cherry tomatoes (which I must add were some of the nicest tomatoes I have ever eaten, they were so sweet, with a slight tang). There was also a selection of American cheeses, which included Moses Sleeper brie from Vermont, and cheddar with grapes and dried apricots. I can't remember which one it was, but one of the cheeses did not taste nice at all. However, the apricots were very nice and, despite being soft, the grapes were very nice and sweet. The dessert was a Lemon cheesecake, filled inside with cherries, which was delicious. There also was the 'wonder wall' which was a basket full of different snacks to check out and help yourself to. The toilets were positioned at the front of the premium cabin behind upper class. They were more spacious than the aircraft I had flown out on despite this being a smaller plane. There was a nice amount of headroom and it had a basic push-to-flush toilet, and a mirror above the sink. About an hour before landing, the breakfast service began, breakfast on planes is renowned to be, well, not very good, so I was excited to see what mine was like. There was a choice of a Cooked breakfast, and a Warm waffle with blueberry coulis, which was, okay... It was slightly overcooked leading to a crunchy texture, but the blueberry coulis was very nice, or should I say, berry nice! It came with a fresh fruit plate which was, very fresh, and a cherry yogurt which was okay. After a butter landing by the pilots, my Virgin Atlantic experience was over. It was very enjoyable.
I flew on G-VTOM, an a330-900neo.
