LHR-JFK Virgin Atlantic - Premium
My seat was a window seat and it was very comfortable, there was a nicely sized TV positioned on the back of the seat in front of me, it had a charging port, and a wireless phone charger built into the middle arm-rest. We started off the flight with glasses of orange juice, champagne, and water being passed around the cabin. I opted for orange juice which had a fresh and zesty taste. The crew were very friendly, and pushback commenced on schedule. The positioning of Virgin Atlantic's terminal meant a taxi time of a mere 10 minutes, and before long, we were lining up for takeoff. After takeoff the crew came round with BBQ flavoured bites and more drinks of your choice, I chose the Fevertree ginger ale, which had a light carbonated texture combined with a hint of wild ginger, it was very refreshing! I then bought the wi-fi, which to my surprise, was very bad, the fact I paid £23.99 for it made it even worse. The wi-fi did not work for at least half of the flight, and when it did work, the connection was very poor. However, the cabin crew were very apologetic, and came round a few times throughout the flight to check on if it was working. About an hour into the flight, the meal service began, which was lunch (this was quite odd as it was 9.30am London time, and 5.30am New York time) I opted for the chicken lasagne, there was also Sage an thyme pork stew and Thai green vegetable curry with jasmine rice. The chicken lasagne was very nice, and it came with Moroccan humus with mixed grains, olives, and sun dried tomatoes, and a bread roll with butter- it was quite nice but I think if it had had a bit of a spicy kick it would have made it a lot nicer. There was also a Cherry clafoutis with pistachio, chantilly cream and blackberries, it had the perfect blend of sweet and sour. There was also a cheese Plate with Vintage cheddar, Shropshire blue cheese, and grapes with olive oil and sea salt crackers, it was very fresh but I personally was not a fan of the fig jelly. My overall view on the meal was very good, I would rate it a 9/10. The toilets were seated at the front of the Premium cabin, seated behind upper class. They were not spacious as such but had good head-room. It housed a nicely sized mirror, a push-to-flush toilet, and a sink where you press a button for the water to come out, which was a much better system than British airways' 777-300er sink, which does the same route. A great touch to the flight was in the galley, there was a basket that was full of snacks that you can take at any point for free, my favourite was the organic peach gummy candy. The flight ended with a smooth touchdown into New York and a short 15 minute taxi to the gate. I flew on G-VDOT which was an a350-1000, the crew were very considerate, and I was offered a wi-fi refund via email. My overall experience on this flight was wonderful, with friendly crew, great food, comfortable seats, and tasty food. I would rate the experience a 9.5/10.
